Universal Computer Aided Source (UCAS) is a low-cost computer based two-quadrant switched mode power supply. It may function as ordinary laboratory voltage, current or power source. Additionally its structure is capable of simulating any v(i) or i(v) transfer function and its output may additionally be modulated with arbitrary f(t) function summed with arbitrary s(t) function. Most of ordinary power supplies operate in single quadrant only. UCAS is designed to efficiently transfer energy in two directions (two-quadrant operation), where current may either source or sink and voltage is positive. This special feature allows two UCAS to operate in high-efficiency differential mode providing true four-quadrant operation and thus true simulation of arbitrary H(u, i, t) function. |
